Welcome
Welcome to the Welling u3a website. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month at St Michael's Church Hall, Upper Wickham Lane, Welling, Kent, DA16 3AP. There is a car park at the back of the hall which will hold approximately 20 cars. Disabled access is available.
The meetings start at 2.00pm and will last approximately 1 hour 30 mins. Most people arrive about 1.45pm. Most months we have a speaker offering a wide range of topics to suit all interests. Refreshments are available free of charge.
Welling u3a enjoyed a lovely summer social during their monthly members ‘ meeting in July . Members tucked into a fish and chip lunch or alternative choice , accompanied by background music from the 60’s abd 70’s in our hall.
An unusual “ Dutch” raffle was held and the winners were delighted with their prizes.
We enjoyed quizzes with a competitive edge from some tables. We also had a good catch up with members !
This is our members’ meeting in September, the speaker was Richard Griffin, who gave us an entertaining , fascinating and insightful talk about “ Life as a Royal Protection Officer”.
His presentation was awesome, full of personal photos of the Queen and the Royal Family.
Membership
We have approximately 170 members currently and if you would like to join us then please contact our Membership Secretary for more information. Visitors may try out one of our meetings at a cost of £2, which is deducted from the annual fee should you choose to join us!
Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March. It is currently £20 for individual members with a reduction for couples and fully paid-up members of other u3as. The membership fee for new members joining throughout the year will be as follows:-
